Many thanks to David Salyer, Joe Marti and Jim Monteton, who volunteered with the Sacramento Blue Star Mothers at a “packing party” on November 15 at the Roseville Veterans Hall.  The guys helped the Blue Star Mothers assemble 400 care packages that will be sent to our overseas troops. The packages contain a variety of items that our troops find useful, but are not readily available in some remote overseas locations. The items are all donated, and the packages also contain a greeting card with a short message of thanks from a grateful citizen.

The Blue Star Mothers are an organization of mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. The Sacramento Chapter usually holds two packing parties per year. For information about upcoming events in the Sacramento area, you can contact them here. To locate other Chapters of Blue Star mothers, please visit the national website.
